Improve School Security with Tardy Slips: Tracking Student Punctuality

Tardiness, an age-old issue in schools, can disrupt the learning environment and have lasting consequences for students. In this post, we explore the significance of Tardy Slips in addressing this issue and maintaining school security.

The Impact of Tardiness

Tardiness among students isn’t merely a matter of inconvenience; it can have widespread consequences. When students arrive late, they miss instructional time, causing setbacks in their academic progress. Furthermore, their late entries can disrupt the educational flow for other students and teachers and create a hectic atmosphere in the classroom. Beyond these immediate effects, chronic tardiness is associated with various long-term issues, including academic failure, increased dropout rates, substance abuse, fighting, and bullying. It is a key indicator of whether a student may be at risk for such negative consequences.

Tardy Slips: An Effective Solution

To combat the challenges posed by student tardiness, many school districts implement policies to monitor and control it. One valuable tool to help monitor and track is the Tardy Slip. These slips serve several important functions:

1. Record Keeping: Tardy Slips are two-part carbonless forms that serve a dual purpose. The white first part is designed to tear out and use as a pass that admits students to class, while the yellow second part creates an automatic duplicate record. This system ensures that students have a physical pass for their entry and that the school maintains a permanent record of all tardy students, including the date and reason for their tardiness.

2. Security and Accountability: Tardy Slips provide a structured and organized system for tracking tardiness, promoting a sense of discipline and accountability among students. By having a documented record of tardy incidents, schools can address the issue more effectively and enforce their tardiness policies consistently.

“I would recommend this book for any school to help stay on top of tardy concerns, which in time can result in absentees. Glad to have it in my office!”
– June M. Lentz of Canal School in Westbrook, Maine

Threshold Tardy Slips

Tardy Slips can be customized to suit the unique needs of each school. They can include the school name and logo or mascot in black ink at no extra cost. For those looking to add color logo or mascot, a small additional fee applies. The title of the slip is also customizable to align with a school’s specific security protocol.

For schools on a budget, there is a “stock” edition of Tardy Slips available. Although this version does not include custom printing of the school’s name or mascot, it is a more cost-effective solution.

Each Tardy Slip book contains 400 slips, with a convenient 8 1/2” x 11” wire bound format. The individual slips measure 3 3/4″ x 2 3/4″.

Flag alertsIt’s easy and free to activate this feature. Simply call us and ask for “Red Flag, No Badge” to be turned on.
