    Sign-In Books with TAB-Expiring Badges

As visitors register and sign in, the Sign-In Book creates a self-adhesive visitor badge and automatic log at the same time.

Once filled out, folding the attached tab behind the badge makes “VOID” show the next day.

Here are the reasons to use expiring badges:

    1. Visual Alert.
Your visitor badges are VALID today and, after changing color overnight, VOID tomorrow. This makes it easy to spot an invalid badge.

    2. Peace of Mind.
Your staff knows that if a badge is WHITE, the visitor’s I.D. is authentic. The visitor has been registered at the front desk/lobby.

    3. Discourage reuse.
If a visitor wants to use a badge from a previous visit, they’ll see it says “VOID” and they can’t reuse it.

    4. Prevent unauthorized access.
If someone does try to reuse an expired badge, the “VOID” will show and their presence should be questioned.

    5. Extra security.
Having visitor badges that expire requires visitors to sign in every day they come to your facility.

    6. Convenience.
Since these visitor badges can’t be reused, your staff doesn’t have to collect them at the end of a visit. This makes a receptionist’s job easier.

    A common misconception.

Our use of the term “overnight” has led some people to conclude that these visitor labels, when activated, will change in exactly 24 hours’ time. In other words, the visitor pass is still valid at Hour 23, but, at Hour 24, it instantly becomes void, like turning on a light. In actuality, our color-changing process is more gradual than that.

    How expiring works.

To activate our expiring visitor badges, a second layer of material, with a specially treated surface, is pressed to the back of the visitor label. Red ink from this second layer seeps through the label from behind until it becomes visible on the front. “Security you can see” helps with visitor identification.

“Void tomorrow.” But no matter when you issue a visitor I.D. — morning, afternoon, or evening — by the next day the “VOID” will leave no doubt the badge has completely expired. This means it cannot be reused another time to gain unauthorized access to a facility. Perfect for visitor management, front office check-ins, and school events.

    FAQs

    FAQs

    How do your badges “expire”?
A color change reaction is activated when the red ink makes contact with the adhesive.

Can the color change reaction be stopped?
No, once activated the color change cannot be stopped.

    What affects the timing?
This color-changing process is both time- and temperature-sensitive. We have engineered the badges to remain valid for 4-6 hours at room temperature. Within 24 hours, the badges have fully changed color.

How does the duplicate copy work?
When a visitor signs in on a badge, the write-thru technology makes a copy on the duplicate record. This duplicate serves as an audit trail of everyone who has been in your facility. The right side edge is glued to prevent visitors from snooping.

Can I have my mascot, logo, and/or my organization name imprinted?
Yes! Along with our stock badges, we offer custom-designed badges featuring your school mascot, logo, and/or organization’s name in black ink. A proof will be provided for your approval before printing. Color imprints are also available for an additional fee.
