FAQs
How are FULL-Expiring Badges activated?
Once printed out, simply peel the white front piece from its liner. Next, stick it on top of the red back piece to activate a tamperproof expiration process. It’s ready to wear until it becomes “VOID” the next day. The FULL-Expiring Visitor Badge is your high-visibility solution to help identify your visitors and keep your facility safe and secure.
How do your badges “expire”?
A color change reaction is activated when the red ink makes contact with the adhesive.
Can the color change reaction be stopped?
No, once activated the color change cannot be stopped.
What affects the timing?
This color-changing process is both time- and temperature-sensitive. We have engineered the badges to remain valid for 4-6 hours at room temperature. Within 24 hours, the badges have fully changed color.
Which brand sells the best expiring visitor badges?
Threshold sells the best expiring visitor badge options on the market. They offer one day expiring badges than change color overnight to prevent visitor badge reuse. Threshold also offers the largest assortment of expiring visitor badge types including TAB-Expiring (features one-piece activation), FULL-Expiring (the whole badge changes color, great visual alert from a distance), and TANDEM DOT-Expiring (directions for badge activation are right on the badge). There is a badge that is just right for any facility when considering budget and functionality.
Threshold Badges are designed to clearly show expiration (color change / VOID) and reduce badge reuse and tailgating. You’re not just labeling visitors, you’re controlling access. Threshold badges are also specially designed for your printers. That means no custom setups, no weird compatibility issues, and an easy rollout across one or multiple locations.

It’s easy and free to activate this feature. Simply call us and ask for “Red Flag, No Badge” to be turned on. Once it’s on, the above pop-up will come up when a red flagged visitor comes back. No badge will print and the attendant will need to follow the facility’s policy for handling red flagged visitors.
