How are DOT-Expiring Badges activated?
DOT-Expiring badges have a red expiring circle preprinted on the bottom right corner. Once a visitor signs has their badge printed out, a white front piece (from a separate roll) dot gets applied over the red circle to activate the tamperproof expiration process. The next day, an image of the word “VOID” will appear to indicate the badge has expired.
How do your badges “expire”?
A color change reaction is activated when the red ink makes contact with the adhesive.
Can the color change reaction be stopped?
No, once activated the color change cannot be stopped.
What affects the timing?
This color-changing process is both time- and temperature-sensitive. We have engineered the badges to remain valid for 4-6 hours at room temperature. Within 24 hours, the badges have fully changed color.
